I’ve started learning photoshop from this book – just got at the weekend – as am finding the youtube videos frustrating.
It’s slow progress and I’m not very good at staying at it. It may help me if I comment here on my progress.
Today I have been finding tools on the tool panel – easier said than done at first!!

I’m not entirely sure this shows what it needs to. Perhaps arrows pointing twards the central question mark would make the meaning more clear.

But with some obvious and not so obvious messages with objects, graphics/words and arrangement.
Still trying to get Photoshop to do what I want! I think I could manage in an earlier version of the software! How annoying.
I have another idea which I’ll follow in parallel with fighting my way through photoshop and that is to make models – maybe rooms/garden spaces – to represent what I’m communicating.
I have a example of a room – used for another purpose that I’ll attach here.
I want to jump right in and use Adobe for my first assignment, but as I am very new to the package, I am stumbling.
I have a rough idea of how I want to portray “Why Graphic Design?”
The idea is that there will be honeycomb in the middle is tight together, indicating refined style I’m working towards, perhaps with question marks, or blurry pictures, as I’m not there yet. Outside this there will be various sized hexagons moving towards that central group with images of a selection of my artwork to date within them.
So far I am finding it harder to come up with an idea to portray who I am and my interests/influences.
I’m starting to design several postcards that say something about who I am, my interests in Graphic Design and my wider culteral influences and interests.
This can be in any medium I wish – I’m thinking of doing it on photoshop and using some of my new and existing images to create this series of linked postcards.
I’m having the usual (for me) problem of getting the idea’s in my head down on paper into some sort of possible plan. So far I have been sketching in various books and I now need to start bringing it together.
